J-Lektro (Jamian Gayden), born in 1994 in Chicago, in the birthplace of house music and many other genres, has been producing his own tracks since the age of 12. Possessing knowledge of computer software such as Ableton Live, Pro Tools, and Reason, at this age, the world of electronic music was just the arena for this talented teen. It took a visit from a friend and well known Chicago house music producer Joe Smooth to start him off and introduce him to the house music scene. It didn?t take long for J, 12 years old at the time, to get the party started.
Throughout high school, J-Lektro has DJed locally at venues around Chicago and has had original music pressed to vinyl and sold early on. J's Track "Robotic Warriors" was featured on Pete Tong's Bedroom bedlam segment on a UK radio station while he was only 14 years old in 2007. J has always been surrounded by music people including his mother, a former singer and "house-head" who experienced the birth of House Music, and Grandfather Willie Mabon who recorded for the well known Chess records in Chicago in the 1950s and 1960s. J has also had the chance to go to one of the top artistic high schools in Chicago, going to school with now famous Chance the Rapper.
Furthermore, J's musical influences are very diverse. Having the experience of living in Europe as a young boy with dance music being heavily played on the radio, alongside being raised in a city well known for its music (Chicago), he has acquired a good sense of musical taste. J can listen to any style of music and generate brilliant ideas.
Currently, J has worked with a variety of artists such as Ellery Cowles, Roy Davis Jr, Steve Poindexter and many others. J feels incredibly grateful and humble that he has came this far and continues to strive to the top to while making the people dance to groove.
